………..

The corner of his mouth lifted slightly. ‘Yeah, you do want to hang me by a bad name, don’t you, but I’ve been resisting your attempts. Just because I was delayed that day…’

Delayed. A small bell trilled somewhere in her mind. That was what he’d said then. Had she misunderstood? Worse. Leapt to the conclusion that he had been late for his own selfish purposes? Could he have been genuinely detained somewhere? She looked at him, searching for the answers to her silent questions, finding herself spellbound by something in the green depths of his eyes.

Then she tore her gaze away from his mesmerizing eyes. Much as she wanted to prolong this time near him and satisfy her curiosity as well, she couldn’t escape the horde of suffering people outside the door.

He seemed to sense her change of mood. ‘When can we talk?’

The quick query sent excitement thudding through her. She tried to tone it down. He was probably worried she would give him bad press. The way they had parted must have made him suspicious of her babbling to the media. Didn’t a PR team handle such matters though, for people like him?

‘As you see, I’m going to be very busy for a while.’ She gestured beyond the door. ‘It might take me anything from half an hour to an hour at least to examine this group.’

‘I’ll wait.’

He would? Surely it had to be something important. Pertaining to his career? She admonished her errantly skidding heart. For God’s sake, why would a dropdead gorgeous star like him single her out?

Not that she was admitting, even to herself, that he was gorgeous.

Come on, Vishakha. You aren’t going to add lying to your failings, are you?

‘Don’t just keep on feeling angry about it. Do something.’ The command startled her.
‘Like what?’
‘Something to show her.’ The comment caught her attention. ‘The best revenge of all is to live well,’ he quoted softly.
‘Meaning?’
His eyes held a sudden gleam. ‘Meaning that instead of sitting moping around like the ditched ex-fiancée, you could show off the new man in your life and let them know you’re more than all right.’
She laughed. ‘What man would I show them?’
He said, ‘Well, for instance, there’s me.’

#BookReleaseDay #Newrelease #BollywoodFianceForADay #romance

I’m happy to share with you Book Release day of Bollywood Fiance for a Day. This was my debut book and first published by Harlequin when they began the Passions contest for Indian authors. My story, Her Dream Date won the contest along with two others and I was given a chance to develop the story into a novel. The result was a sparkling, spicy but sweet romance between a serious doctor and a jazzy movie star. I’m excited to published its new edition at Amazon as an ebook.

Here’s something about the book:

Blurb:

What can possibly save you from cutting a sorry figure after being jilted by your very suitable fiancé? Well, if you could secure a Bollywood star as a replacement, it would be bound to still all the wagging tongues!

Zaheer wants to ward off unwanted attention from his leading lady and agrees to help her save her face. But she has to keep in mind that Zaheer can easily distinguish between pretense and reality before she begins to wish this were a dream that would come true…

Excerpt:

‘You want to go on a date with me?’ He directed a quizzical glance at her.

‘Isn’t that what you just offered?’

‘I just wonder what you’re offering.’ The overtly sexual innuendo in his deep voice, with that sensual husky emphasis on the last word, made her toes curl in her silver slip-ons. At the same time her breath escaped through her teeth at his brashness.

Well, she wasn’t going to let him get to her. ‘A real date.’ She dared to say, ‘That’s what you said and that’s what you get.’

‘This evening just got interesting, I think.’ The Zaheer Saxena brand was highlighted by the sexy clefts in his lean cheeks as he smiled slowly. She totally wished she’d missed that. Hazel eyes caught her gaze, the look sinking into hers slowly, like a knife sliding into butter. She felt the effect of it curl to her fingertips. With an effort she dragged her attention away. She knew it was a bad idea to go on this date, the way she felt near him. Or maybe quite a brilliant one if she wanted to seize the opportunity to…

To what? Lengthen the time she spent with him? Explore why little electrical charges seemed to be running across her skin every time he stepped nearer to her?

About me, the Author:

Ruchi Vasudeva is a doctor by profession, a teacher by vocation and an author by destiny. The writing bug long resided in her till the Passions contest held by Harlequin for Indian authors gave her a golden opportunity to have her dream realized. She debuted in August ’13 with her book ‘Bollywood Fiancé For A Day’. She writes romantic fiction with conflicted characters. She loves to write about spirited heroines getting hurtled out of their daily life as soon as they cross paths with their rather challenging heroes.

Juggling job, writing and family life isn’t something she would recommend to anyone who wants peace and calm but at the end of the day, she finds it very fulfilling. When not bent over the laptop, she might be found with her nose in books or munching nachos at the movies with her husband and two kids or glued to the telecast of Team India in action. Sometimes she drags herself for long walks and surprisingly discovers they are rather good for brewing story ideas. ‘Romance,’ she holds, ‘can feel over-hyped in this day and age but is all too tangible and needed in life on daily basis.’

Summerita Rhayne writes contemporary and historical romance with lots of emotional conflict. She first got published in 2013 and has won contests with prestigious publishers such as Harlequin and Harper Collins India. Her pet belief is, if the inspiration is strong enough, the story characters will find a way to make the writer pen them down, even when writing time is in short supply. When cerebrally confronted with the sizzling interaction of two Alpha characters, the only way to get peace is write their book!
At heart, she’s a family person and even though she loves her medical teaching profession, she happily becomes a homemaker when not at work. She loves winding down with music, romcoms and cricket (strictly watching only).

Review – Grays Hill by Barbara T. Cerny

740a8-145026841

The Blurb

After her father committed suicide rather than face his mounting gambling debts, Oksana Wallingford knows she will have to work in order to keep food on the table and her younger brother, the new baron, in school. When her best friend finds her a position as the nanny of his brother’s children, it is the opportunity Oksana needs. But what she didn’t contend with was Rafe, the recently widowed Duke of Essex and her new employer.

Oksana and Rafe’s personalities are like oil and water. However, what begins as mutual hate slowly begins to change into something more. But what future can they have when Rafe has sworn off marriage for good?

As the mismatched pair struggles to come to terms with one another, a disaster that throws everything into question strikes them both.

I found Grays Hill to be an engaging historical read. Though the overarching theme in the story is the duke’s recovery from the emotional damage he had suffered, effected through his romance with his governess, the story isn’t centered on the two romantic characters but rather embraces all the characters in its fold. They are warm, cheerful and you go happily along for a ride.

At places there is lack of conflict which takes you out of the story and the interest wanes near the end because of that. Interaction between main characters started a little late in the book and ended a bit too early and the last episode along with the spotlight on the villain, in my view, was unnecessary. I enjoyed the middle half thoroughly. The heroine is unusual and takes the stage. But she is depicted so strongly that at one or two points one looks askance at the hero.

I rate it four stars out of five for readability except the last one fourth of it, four stars for concept and world building.

Read it if you’re looking for a historical, entertaining read which is not a typical genre cast.
